Safety

Before paying or sending documents, verify.

Scams take advantage of urgency and uncertainty. These warning signs help you recognise situations that need extra checking.

Be suspicious of promises only a public body can decide.

No one should present a residence permit, nationality decision, appointment, approval or acceleration of a public procedure as guaranteed.

Warning sign: pressure to pay immediately, “exclusive slots”, requests for access codes, or instructions telling you not to verify information on the official website.

Guia Migrante PT does not sell appointments or decisions.

The public portal and tools are free. Guia Migrante PT does not charge to secure AIMA slots, accelerate procedures, obtain nationality or guarantee approval.

Warning signs

Stop and check if you see these patterns.

01

“I have an exclusive AIMA slot”

Verify the official channel. Do not pay solely because someone claims privileged access.

02

“Send me your authentication code”

Passwords, PINs and SMS/authentication codes should not be handed to unknown or unverified people.

03

“Pay now or you will lose the case”

Artificial urgency and threats are common fraud techniques. Verify the fee, public body and payment reference.

04

A page that looks official

Logos and colours can be copied. Read the complete website address and confirm the domain.

05

Documents requested by an unknown account

Do not send passports, residence cards or banking data to profiles, numbers or e-mails you have not verified.

06

“Approval guaranteed”

A legitimate private professional may provide a service, but should not convert a future public decision into a guarantee.

Before you act

Five checks

1. Confirm the domain

Open the public body's website from a known source rather than trusting only a link received in a message.

2. Confirm the official fee

A private provider may charge professional fees, but those must be distinguished from an official public fee.

3. Protect access codes

Keep passwords, SMS codes, PINs and Digital Mobile Key authentication private.

4. Keep evidence

Save receipts, e-mails, payment references and important communications.

5. Ask for the service in writing

If someone charges you, understand what service they are providing and who is responsible for it.
