Renewal Portal window currently runs to 31/10/2026
AIMA indicates the portal for residence permits expired or expiring from 1 July 2025 to 31 October 2026, with additional current functions for ARI and certain permanent EU residence documents.
Missing documents can be added online in certain first-grant cases
For some residence-permit applications initiated directly with AIMA, the Contact Form may be used to add missing documents. AIMA excludes Renewal Portal and services.aima.gov.pt cases from this specific mechanism.
The amount depends on the procedure. Where eligible, AIMA indicates a 25% digital/online reduction and 10% assisted-digital reduction compared with the corresponding in-person amount.
For new general adult naturalisation applications by legal residence: seven years for Portuguese-speaking-country nationals and EU citizens, and ten years for nationals of other States, subject to the remaining statutory requirements. Pending cases on 19 May keep the previous wording.
Online NISS and NHS/SNS user-number information confirmed
Foreign nationals can request NISS online and the official request is free. The NHS/SNS user number can be assigned at a first visit to a public health unit; the number alone does not guarantee full cost coverage.
