Cannot solve your issue with AIMA? Choose the channel by problem.

Repeatedly sending the same request or using a form that does not match your procedure can make follow-up harder. This page organises the official channels published by AIMA.

In-person appointment

When you need to request an appointment.

AIMA's official FAQ indicates the Contact Form for in-person appointment requests. If there is no suitable option in the form, AIMA indicates geral@aima.gov.pt with the subject “Pedido de Agendamento”.

01

Check for a dedicated digital channel

Renewals and other specific procedures may have their own portal and may not require a manual appointment.

02

Use the Contact Form

Select the subject and subtype that exactly match your request.

03

If there is no suitable form option

E-mail geral@aima.gov.pt with full name, date of birth, nationality, contact e-mail and reason. Use “Pedido de Agendamento” as the subject.

04

Send the request once

AIMA itself asks users to avoid repeatedly sending the same request.

AIMA official appointment FAQ ↗
Contact Form

Use the correct subject.

The form supports different services, including appointments, replacement cards, data changes, portal problems and follow-up, depending on the options AIMA makes available.

Keep proof of submission. Save confirmation e-mails, relevant screenshots and the documents you attached. Include your process number when requested.

Already submitted

If your case is pending, do not start a different procedure at random.

Check notifications, the portal and the e-mail linked to the process. When an appropriate case-status/follow-up option is available in the Contact Form, use the process details and describe exactly what is pending.

Include useful information

  • Name and date of birth.
  • Process or permit number when available.
  • Date of submission/appointment.
  • Channel used for the request.
  • Specific problem and any notification received.

Avoid

  • Duplicate requests with conflicting information.
  • Paying third parties for a “guaranteed appointment”.
  • Sending sensitive documents to unofficial contacts.
  • Assuming silence means approval or refusal.
Missing documents

Follow the channel stated in your case or notification.

AIMA cases may run through different channels. If you are asked to add documents, use the portal, form or instruction identified for that case and include the correct case number when available.

Avoid sending the same documents through several channels at once. If the Contact Form offers an option that matches your case, use it and upload only what is requested. If your case is being handled in a dedicated portal, follow that portal's instructions.

Deadline or serious prejudice

There is no published generic “urgent queue” for every type of problem.

If you have a deadline, official notification, documented risk of losing rights or another concrete consequence, explain it clearly through the correct official channel and attach supporting evidence where the system allows it.

For legally sensitive situations, obtain qualified help. If a legal deadline, negative decision, removal measure, loss of employment or other serious prejudice is involved, advice from a specialised lawyer or solicitor may be important. This guide does not replace individual legal advice.
Security

Use only AIMA's official channels.

Appointment and case-follow-up requests should use the channels published by AIMA. Do not buy supposed “slots” or give portal credentials to intermediaries promising a guaranteed appointment.

Verify the channel before acting. Open the official information directly on AIMA's website and keep proof of requests you submit.
