CPLP is a specific route.

The CPLP residence permit now uses the uniform residence-card model. Current first-grant rules require close attention to the consular visa and AIMA's stated appointment channel.

Who this page is for

I am a CPLP national

  • Nationals of CPLP member States who meet the regime's conditions.
  • People holding a consular visa issued for CPLP residence.
  • CPLP certificate/card holders who need to distinguish first grant, renewal and replacement.
Important

Do not mix legal routes

CPLP nationality does not make every migration procedure automatic. Always identify whether your case is a new grant, renewal or replacement.
Your route, step by step

What to check first

01

New grant

AIMA currently indicates that a prior consular visa specifically issued for this purpose is required.

02

Appointment

The appointment date may appear in the visa observations; where it does not, AIMA provides a specific CPLP appointment form.

03

Uniform card

New grants are issued using the EU uniform residence-permit format.

04

Renewal/replacement

Holders of earlier CPLP certificates follow the specific AIMA procedure published through services.aima.gov.pt/CPLP.
